ABOUT

The Froggy Five Mile was created in 2008 and is held in conjunction with ARE Event Productions' Trail Running Camp. This trail run sends you on an undulating loop around the Dippikill property, capped off with a gorgeous view of the Hudson River and Adirondacks. The last 3.5 miles are mostly single-track with some serious climbs.

The Hard as Hell Half Marathon debuted in 2020 and features about 1,400 feet of elevation GAIN that is 80% dirt roads/20% pavement. You will NOT PR but you will definitely enjoy the serene backroads and low key atmosphere that made this a quick favorite among its participants.

AMENITIES

A post race BBQ awaits you! Along with an energetic race atmosphere with music and announcing to make you smile and entertain your spectators. It is otherwise a low-key event; there is not a physical item giveaway. There are no awards. You are welcome to jump in the pond after the race or relax in a nearby creek.

PETS & STROLLERS

While you may have them on-site at the event, you are not permitted to participate with pets or strollers.

OVERVIEW

FROGGY FIVE MILE

The course is quite varied, including easy and wide sections of trail, relentless uphill grinds on single-track mired in rocks and roots, and everything in between. IT IS HARD with horrific footing at times. ONLY for those with ADK running/hiking experience.

HARD AS HELL HALF MARATHON

This will probably be among the hardest half marathons you ever run that is not on trail. You will never get a break, and the climb from miles 5 to 7 will have you begging for mercy. And you'll relatively get that until the final mile, which may very well break your spirit - but crossing the finish line will make it all worth it!

More Details about the HHH
The first 2.25M drop steeply before completing the ~2.75M paved section of the course. Returning to the ST/FIN area is a brutal climb, at which time you pass the ST/FIN and drop down to Glen Creek Rd for a gorgeous 3.75M out/back along the creek.

CUT-OFFS

The FF course is virtually impossible to drop out of/not complete. You are deep in the woods. Please do not register/start this event if not capable of hiking a mountain/lifting your own body weight.

13.1M Race Cut-offs:
7.4M (event staging/start/finish): 1:35:00 (12:50 pace)
Finish: 2:50:00 (13:00 pace)

COURSE WATER

This is a CUPLESS event. You must provide your own bottle. The event does not provide any items on the course besides water re-fill. You do pass your car at approximately 7.4M of the 13.1M, feel free to go to your car and get any nutritional items, etc. if you don't want to carry them the first 7.4M.

Bottle re-fill will be available in one location, at the 3.5M mark of the course.

HARD AS HELL HALF MARATHON
Bottle re-fill will be available in the following locations:

2.5M/5M (Same spot - definitely fill up at 5M before the climb!)
7.4M (Same place as finish line/YOUR CAR - FEEL FREE to go to your car if you have nutrition/need other items.)
9.5M/11M
